    Description

    Western USA fixed blade hunter's skinning knife, Western pattern number 66, is 8-3/4 inches overall length; blade is 4-1/2 inches from tip to top of half guard.  Blade tang stamped:  WESTERN  U.S.A.  66.  Handles are stacked leather washers with red, beige and black fiber washers at the top and bottom.  Half guard and pommel are aluminum, tang goes all the way through to base of pommel.
    Condition is used - NKCA - Mint.  Knife has never been used, carried or sharpened.  Handles are beautiful with no cracks, dings or wear.  Blade is new and unused with original finish, but there are many tiny pits and one larger pit on the front that I am at a loss to explain.  The knife is tight with no wiggle, wobble or movement of any kind.  Sorry, I don't have the sheath.  Photos are explicitly part of this description.
    Western was founded by H.N. Platts (one of the founders of W.R. Case) in 1911 in Boulder, Colorado as the Western States Cutlery Co.  The name changed to Western Boulder Colorado about 1951.  In 1978, they moved to Longmont, Colorado and adopted the tang stamp on this knife.  In 1991, the business was closed and the assets sold to Camillus Cutlery.  So, this knife was made between 1978 and 1991.
