Vintage Al Mar Knives #4004 Tanken Shugoto I - New 1988

Description

This vintage Al Mar knife is just out of long-term storage and is perfect for the serious collector.
A former sales rep. sample of ours, it has never been used, carried, sharpened, or sold at retail.  It was only shown to retailers, catalog companies, etc. during our approx. 12 years as sales reps. for the Mar's in 11 Western states.
This is essentially a brand new 35-year old knife and shows the precision craftsmanship and beautiful designs Al was known for.
Discontinued in about 1989, this is a nice example of the #4004 Shugoto I fixed blade from the Tanken Series.
Note too that this is the later, improved version with the handle spacers for added grip length and comfort

Dramatic deep hollow grinds with a satin finish

Three spacer rings that are in better alignment than is typical for this series, but are not perfect
Molded black DuPont Zytel handle with grooves, lanyard slot, and checkering for a secure grip.
Leather and poly bag are missing.
This good looking Shugoto I has only a couple of random marks on the blade and a minor grind boggle at the tip.
