Description
Let’s start with some history on this knife. Originally Marbles picked up the contract but due to their cost we switched to a cheaper company Camillus. 1959 contract was put out for JPK (Jet Pilot Knife) it called for 6” blade and treaded pommel, very few were made and in June 1960 they changed contract asking for a peened pommel and that stuck from then until now. From June ‘60 to early ‘61 we had a 6” blade Camillus over N.Y. With peened pommel and full leather sheath with stone (RARE)! Made less than a year before the big change. In Aug ‘61 a 5” blade was specified due to pilot feedback. From there on out the JPK was a 5” blade, peened pommel, leather sheath with stone. After a few years they started marking the dates made on the pommel and reinforced the leather sheath with metal backing. This is an early 60's Camillus pilot survival knife in good condition for the age. It has the 5” full blade, peened pommel, Camillus over N.Y. on the blade. It does have some pitting on the blade and is without the original sheath.
