RARE 1960s SET AMERICAN KA-BAR 8" USA VINTAGE HUNTING KNIFE & KABAR LEATHER CASE

One great
American-made
KABAR vintage hunting / skinning knife
from my personal collection. The bright clip-point blade measures
4  3/16" inches long
, and the leather spacer handle is tight and easy to grip.  The companion
KA-BAR
Leather Sheath
is a heavy duty
2-layer thick leather case.
"This early KABAR fixed blade Knife & KABAR Sheath Set are just right for hunting small game or collecting".
Remember, “back in the day” these older knives were purchased to be used…

HISTORY
:
According to
legend the  KA-BAR  trademark
came from a letter written by an old trapper who claimed to have been saved in a fight with a bear, by a well-made knife. Due to his lack of education the written account of how he had been able to
"kil a bar"
was shortened and appeared as KA-BAR. Thus the trademark was born, and KA-BAR knives grew in popularity.
The KABAR trademark was first used in 1923, but was adopted as the name of the company in 1951. (History information is a summery taken from the "Official Price Guide to Collector Knives".)

HANDLE
:
This beautiful
Kabar
knife features a
shiny aluminum flat-head pommel,
and secure
aluminum
finger guard
.
The
leather spacer handle
is
tight with
No looseness
and has some light signs of handling or normal aging.
The
stacked leather washer handle features "
3 finger grooves"
for a secure grip.  This well made vintage handle has
secure
black, dark
red,
and
cream colored factory
spacers.

BLADE
:
The bright
steel blade is designed with a
false top edge
that could be sharpened, if desired
.  This fixed blade looks straight, and has some short light surface scratches and some faint patina, normal for its age.
I didn't notice any blade edge nicks and the
tip is pointed.
The
reflective clip-point blade
has been re-sharpened.
This early
KA-BAR hunting Knife & companion Leather Sheath
are just waiting for the right person to appreciate their rich USA history and make the set their own.

genuine leather sheath has
excellent intact stitching

shiny
metal rivets,
stiff throat area,  2-layer thick belt slot

keeper stra

metal snap
.
This is a
heavy-duty factory
sheath that fits the KA-BAR knife well
and offers secure carrying in the field.  It has some light surface scuffs and normal signs of handling for its age. The
unique color of the sheath
is almost an
Ox-blood dark reddish-brown color
(mostly noticeable on the sheath edges).
The
2-layer thick sheath
(or case) is factory tooled on the front

The old knife has
a lot of character and vintage appeal....with that slight "patina of time" appearance not yet achieved with newer knives.
