    Description

A gorgeous,  Western USA, hunting knife,  model 39, with upswept blade.  This stamping was used during Western's transition from Boulder, Colorado to Longmont. Colorado.
This took place from approx 1970-76.  In 1977, Western started using alphabet letters to signify production dates.
Comparatively, these "transition era" Western's are fairly rare.  This example has the durable polished "pakkawod" sides with brass rivets. (This material is commonly mistakenly identified as "rosewood", but it is not.
The blade is full,  polished, factory sharpened, and basically free from any pitting, rusting, or grind marks.  The blade has a dramatic upswept design favored by hunters,  and with knurled "thumb grooves" for easier grip when in the field.
The sheath appears to be in mint condition, with no missing stitches, and plain nickel silver keeper snap.
Rare to find a knife over 50 years old and still could be designated as "near mint" condition.
