    Description

This is a Dupont, Remington model RH 70 hunting knife. This fine knife was made sometime in the mid 1930's - 1940's range. This knife measures around 7 7/8" overall. The blade itself measures around 4 1/4 inches. The handle is made of stacked leather. This knife has been used, sharpened and carried. The blade shows patina, staining, pitting and use. Everything is nice and tight (no looseness). The original leather sheath comes with the knife. The sheath is in great shape for it's age.
World War I ended in 1918 and our nation's largest arms supplier, Remington Arms, faced a serious problem. It had geared up to meet the needs of Uncle Sam, who no longer needed them as much... What would the company do with its plants and the army of skilled workers? The solution was that the company decided to manufacture cutlery. Remington produced it's first knife February 9, 1920. Remington became "the" knives to have. By 1931 Remington Cutlery was producing nearly 3 million knives a year. Then came the Depression and Remington faced bankruptcy. Dupont bought out the company and by the mid-1930's reduced the number of models from over 1,000 patterns to just over 300.
I start all of my auctions at $.99 and you pay actual shipping costs.  I will combine shipping if you purchase multiple knives, but please wait for an invoice.
