Scarce circa 1890th Sheffield-made full tang construction Bowie with a clip-point blade, stag handle scales and German silver cross guard. Made by CHALLENGE CUTLERY CO. in Sheffield, England, comes with hard to find original leather sheath. This attractive Bowie is used but it is in better than average condition for the type. The blade is very sharp still; the tip is intact. Ricasso is stamped CHALLENGE / CUTLERY Co. / SHEFFIELD / ENGLAND on one side. About 9-7/8″ / 30.4 cm overall; the blade is about 5-3/4″ / 14.6 cm. Genuine stag handle scales with 3 pints; the handle is tight; bent German silver guard has a bit of a play. Original leather sheath is in very good shape, considering the age; the keeper seems to be a later add-on; the back is signed Ted Beam Bedford over some older numbers.
