CALENDAR and KEY CHAIN
Stamp Collector
has been North America's leading
Philatelic Newspaper for almost 90 years.
The paper reports all the news about the latest
stamps being issued around the world.
It also gives information about stamp shows,
stamp auctions, and scheduled first day covers.
The authors offer tips on making a profit from philately,
and the paper's ads demonstrate the latest
price trends and offer ways to save money.
The paper used to produce a Calendar yearly.
Beside the traditional Holidays, the dates of
major Stamp Shows across the US are noted.
The calendar in this Auction is dated 1983 with
pages from January through December.
It was created and published by Van Dahl Publications.
In 1983, Ken Wood was the Editor Emeritus.
He collected stamps for more than 45 years, wrote
about philately, in particular topical collecting,
including a three-volume encyclopedia.
Mr. Wood was also an accomplished artist.
In this year's calendar, Ken Wood combined his
love of stamps with his artistic talents to create
twelve pages of Stamps from these
Remote Areas of the World:
The Faroes
Gilbraltar
Mozambique
Comoros
Laos
Ivory Coast
Malta
Trinidad and Tobago
Pitcairn
Papua New Guinea
French Guiana
Tristan da Cunha
The calendar is in Used Condition.
The pages are all crisp and unmarked and the stapled binding
is all intact with no rust on the staples.
The edges are rubbed a bit and the cover and pages show some dirt.
One corner of the cover is gently bent.
The calendar measures 8.5 inches x 11 inches closed
and 11 inches x 17 inches open.
It has a hole pre-cut for hanging on your wall.
Also, an order form for the 1984 Calendar
is including in the middle of October.
My Dad was a Philatelist and this hung in the
'Stamp Room' for a year and then went into Storage -
both smoke and pet-free environments.
The other item was a gift to my Dad, from one of
his customers, probably in the 70s or 80s.
I believe it to be Handmade.
The Key Chain is Wood with the real Stamps
attached by a coat of varnish.
An inch and a half chain is attached.
The two Stamps featured on this Unique Key Chain
are the 1974 One Dollar from Brazil and
the 1971 Three Cent from the Bahamas.
The Key Chain is in VERY GOOD Condition
with no chips, scratches, or dirt.
The colors are clear and bright.
There is a bit of wear near the chain hole.
The wood piece, which is a wedge-shaped piece,
measured approximately 2
5/8
" x 1
1/2
".
This would be a GREAT addition to any
